I haven't played this game myself but I watched my BFF and his roomie play at his apartment. I was baffled at how much they both seemed to despise Merril. Then again, I haven't seen much of the story.
Merrill does some really stupid things in the game. If you're not susceptible to her innocent, naive charms, and can see how she'd probably be quite hate-able!
I finally hooked up my X-Box and gave DA2 a whirl and woah, man.
Merrill's so cute when she's offering her blood to demons!
