The will likely be spoilers, but should I talk about something super new I'll warn ya. But consider this a pre-emptive warning! You're WARNED!

do want

I'm pretty much anticipating Final Fantasy XIII-2 since...you know...YES I actually liked the first game. I'm not drooling over it since my two favorite characters from FF XIII- Fang and Lightning, duh- are ancillary this time around. I think Lightning is playable, but no one is really talking about Fang and this worries me. It WORRIES ME. Someone tell me everything will be okay!

Still, I'm going to get FF XIII-2 when it's available and when I can. I think a nice way to get it would be in bundle form with this limited Lightning-flavored PS3, don't you? Yes, I think we can all agree on that.

I don't have a PS 3, so clearly this option is in the best interests of all (me).

All my coveting has brought to mind CONSOLE WARS. Where do your loyalties lie in the console wars? Personally, I'm a free agent. Every system has its advantages and drawbacks, but dang, y'all- I just want to play games, and so I'd love to own every system.

I have a friend who was SO into Sega back in the Genesis days (and the 32X days and the Sega CD days and Saturn days and the...mmm, I don't think she had a Dreamcast) that she adopted an "us vs them" attitude with regards to Nintendo. I see it all the time on message boards and the such- Sony fanboys (and girls) bashing Xbox, vice versa, and everyone bashing Nintendo. I don't get it. I'll admit, when Xbox first came out, I rolled my eyes- but this is because I'm a Mac girl, and I was all "OH WHAT BILL GATES NOW YOU HAVE TO CONTROL GAMING TOO", which is really stupid. And you know what? A lot of games I wanted to play came out on Xbox, so when I could...I got an Xbox.

And I love my 360, no doubt. But man, I want to play Uncharted. I want to play Silent Hill: Shattered Memories with a motion controller. This means yes, I want a PS3 and a Wii. I want to play PC games, so yes, I even want a PC that can handle them. I follow the games! I'm not going to deny myself great gaming experiences because of some ridiculous loyalty to Microsoft or Nintendo or whatever. Everyone's pretty!

I became quite the Sony hater with this generation of gaming and entertainment. A lot of it came from being disgusted at their delays and over-charging for the PS3. Not to mention the outright lies they were telling as damage control.

But most of all it was because Sony's blu-ray format 'won' the format war over the superior, cheaper and more user-friendly HD-DVD. In that situation blu-ray's region coding (which HD-DVD didn't have) swayed studio's greed their way.

But back in the real world I bought my 360 purely because I saw a bunch of reviews of OBLIVION and it sounded like a game I really wanted to play.

I still don't have a PS3 and at this point I don't imagine I will. I agree with Stacie that it hurts to not get SILENT HILL games but I've got a sweet-ass PC that lets me play pretty much everything released on full settings.

So I guess I am a bit of a PC snob. But I still do love my 360 (that is currently red-ringed).

I see what you're saying, and I think you've got valid reasons for avoiding the PS3. I guess I just don't understand people who are so anti, say, Sony SOLELY because they're pro-Microsoft. Makes no sense. You see it mostly on message boards and the like- a new game will be announced and all the tired (irrelevant) arguments come out.

I hate to break it to you, but the Lightning PS3 is Japan only...

On the console war field...Not a console fanboy, never have been. My laptop is powerful enough to run games at decent graphics settings; my 360 and Wii have served me very well thus far. I still love my original Xbox and PS2, and was deeply saddened to see my N64 die late last year. Do I want a PS3? Heck yes. Do I NEED it? Nope. With the price drop, though, a pre-owned one may be in my future...

I dislike Sony for several reasons, not the least of which is the hacking earlier this year and, as mentioned, earlier delays and how they were handled. I do not, however, hold anything against a perfectly good system.

You know what's really great about the Sega Genesis? Genesis does, what Nintendon't.

I was one of those Sega folks (Genesis and Sega CD especially) at one point, too but yeah, nowadays I'm happy with a game as long as it's enjoyable, regardless of the system.

Having said that, I have yet to purchase a PS3 and don't have any immediate plans to do so. I'm content with my 360 and PS2.*

* Which is what I tell myself to ease the pain of being unable to play some really awesome games.

I read that this console was a Japan release, but not exclusive. Figures! I'm going to concentrate on wishing for it REALLY HARD and we'll see what happens.

One reason I've yet to spring for a PS3 (aside from, you know, the whole "they cost money" thing) is the backwards-compatibility issue. I've still got plenty of PS2 games I play, and my 1st-gen console is still hugging along just fine, which is a bit unbelievable. I can't see forming over a couple hundred bucks for only a game or two if I also have to hold on to my PS2.

But, I mean, if it has a picture of LIGHTNING on it, then clearly that's a different matter!

I was a pretty hardcore Nintendo-er all the way up to getting a pretty disappointed with the Wii. I am a huge sucker for the key franchises, especially the Megaman, Zelda and Metroid games. The Metroid Prime trilogy (upgraded for motion control and all on one disc for the Wii!) is one of the best FPS series ever! But I was living in Tokyo when the Dreamcast came out and was absolutely blown away by its POWER. It was the first time since the Neo-Geo you could play games at home that looked as good or BETTER than stuff in the arcade!a few titles on Deramcast that will never leave my favorite-games list, like Jet Grind Radio, Ecco the Dolphin (so incredible) and *Soul Calibur*. Also, for Schocktober, it had great horror titles like D3, the early Resident Evils and House of the Deads, as well as my so-bad-it's-awesome horror favorite "Blue Stinger". .....maybe it's my favorite console ever.

I used to be pro-Sega, but only because my mom beat Super Mario Wold before I did.

Super Mario Wold being quite the hilly bastard. Poor Mario.

Also, I've got all three systems. I wanted a Wii. Then I wanted a PS3. Then my sister was all like "I need money, trade me some for this X-Box I got for free with the TV I paid too much money for!" and I was like "OK" and did so.

I also don't through out gaming systems. Why not keep the PS2 for those PS2 games you've got? Especially if it's a thin one.
