BY THE WAY. The trailer for Mass Effect 3 was just released at the Spike TV Video Game Awards and let's just say that I'm already lined up outside of Best Buy. HURRY UP 2011.

I remember waiting years for Morrowind as it slipped date after date, and as a result I try not to get too excited when Bethesda announces a new Elder Scrolls release. But still: hot damn am I looking forward to Skyrim.
I've only played Oblivion, myself. I tried Morrowind long after and found it too clunky (or maybe I was too uncoordinated) and I didn't get far.
Apparently they won't be using the same game engine on Skyrim, so it'll be a whole new Elder Scrolls experience, I guess.
I think Morrowind and Daggerfall both created amazingly atmospheric worlds in a way that Oblivion and its expansions never quite did for me, though it was still crazy fun. I actually started playing Daggerfall again last night, and while it is graphically ridiculous even for its time (many of the NPCs are 2D static sprites, for instance), there's something about its world that I still find really appealing.
I know what you mean. As much fun as I had playing Oblivion, I never felt any sort of connection to my character. It was simultaneously completely engrossing and not at all so- maybe because I had no personality whatsoever. I felt the same way about Fallout 3 (the only Fallout I've played).
I'm thrilled to finally have info on the next ELDER SCROLLS game. And was that Max Von Sydow's voice in the trailer?
OBLIVION was the reason I went out and bought an XBOX 360. I think I sunk about 500 hours into that game.
